Allow the problems to come and then allow them to go just as quickly. Peacefully accept the disappointments and you’ll have no trouble with peacefully letting them go.
Accept the joys without worrying about clinging to them.
They will always be with you if you simply let them be.
Stop fighting against what is, and you’ll clearly see how to make the most of it. Welcome each new experience and you’ll quickly find the value it brings.

Appreciation
It is good to appreciate that life is now. Whatever it offers, little or much, life is now – this day – this hour.
Decide and commit
+++++++++++++++++++
Be truly decisive by acting on your decisions. Decide what you will do and then get started on it right away.
The sooner you take action the more you’ll accomplish. Once you decide to do it, begin immediately.
Commitment is more than just a mental exercise. It’s not a commitment until you back it up with action.
Once you have invested some effort, the goal is no longer a vague, far-away concept. You have begun to make it real.
When you start by immediately taking action, you’re naturally going to continue taking action. Put momentum on your side right away, and you immediately have a powerful ally.
Make your decisions real and present in your life, and give them the energy they deserve. Act on them right away, and truly make them happen.
hard work = success
The only thing that separates successful people from the ones who aren’t is the willingness to work very, very hard.
+++++++++++++++++++
Don’t worry that someone has a head start or other advantage on you. Just let it be, and make it an even greater reason to push forward.
Instead of comparing your position or performance to others, put your energy into improving what you do. Instead of worrying about what you don’t have, make the very most of what you do have.
For what you do have is plenty. Because you can find a way to make effective and creative and productive use of it.
Some people have certain advantages, and other people have other advantages. That’s what makes life rich and interesting.
Find your own advantages and make full use of them. Even what seems to be a disadvantage can be a true advantage when you look at it from a positive perspective.

Conditions change
+++++++++++++++++++
Conditions change all the time. What you could depend on yesterday, might very well be gone today. What once worked so well for you, will eventually fail to bring the results you seek. So when conditions change, you have the valuable opportunity to change along with them. Life by its very definition is always changing. People who make the most of life are those who expect the changes, welcome them, and find the positive possibilities in each one. When you see changes occurring, instead of making a judgment make a careful observation. You cannot stop the changes that are already taking place, so your best strategy is to find the opportunities that are embedded within them. And those positive opportunities are most certainly there. Rather than being fearful of the changes, be curious, and you’ll see the hidden value in those changes. You can count on the fact that the world will continue to change. And you can always choose to take the actions that will make those changes be for the better.

Empowerism 31: Writing for the Internet 5 of 8 – NEWSLETTERS
Writing For The Internet – Part 5
Contrary to what we like to think of ourselves as trainers here at Empowerism, every now and then it occurs to us that we are not the only Marketing trainers here in cyberspace. There are others. And while we haven’t a clue as to who these other trainers might be, we’re certain they exist.
In fact, it seems to us that practically everyone and his brother professes to be some type of trainer these days. Can you guess what type of trainers they are, and the subject of their training? You guessed it. “Marketing Trainers.” “I will show you EXACTLY how to make money on the Internet . . . Sign up for my Free newsletter.” Yadda, yadda. Now is that any kind of a plan for a Newsletter? We don’t think so. But you are free to give it a go. Lots of luck with the search engines: WEB RESULTS (i) (Showing Results 1-10 of 10,714,678). That’s just at Lycos! Gazooks!
So here’s a hint for you. Forget about trying to become the next “marketing guru.” The competition is staggering. Trust us on that one. It’s not that we’re afraid of competition, we’re not. We love it! But we’re looking out for you and it’s our belief that you probably have a lot more salable talent in other areas that you might not even be aware of.
On with the show!
Getting Started With Your Newsletter -
First you need to ask yourself some questions and come up with solid answers. This is going to be a very important project, probably the one most crucial to your success, so it’s important to put quality effort into laying the groundwork.
- What is your area of expertise?
Can’t think of anything? Nonsense! Everyone has something they love, which they know well and enjoy doing, a hobby or a passion. You don’t need to be an expert; you don’t even need to know a lot about it. You simply need to be enthusiastic about it. That positive energy will be conveyed to your readers.
It will get them involved and interactive, which will give your newsletter a life of its own.
It may be something as technical as writing CGI scripts for websites. It may be a family-oriented issue like raising children with special needs or how to have a fulfilling retirement. Or it might be mundane (clipping coupons), esoteric (stories about UFO sightings) or romantic (choosing honeymoon spots).
Find a topic that’s your passion, then research it relentlessly.
Check every reference to your topic on the Internet by using search engines. The more resources you can put your hands on, the better. You will use them to expound on your own articles, to verify your information, and possibly to find other articles to include in your newsletter. The more quotes you can include from your topic’s “industry experts,” the more credibility your newsletter will have. Your readers will respect the research you’ve done.
Keep in mind that your audience is smart. They have a brain and they want fresh, valuable information, not marketing fluff.
Think long and hard before choosing the theme of your newsletter because this is how you will eventually earn your living if you pursue it with everything you’ve got.
- Who is your target audience?
Defining your target audience will determine the content of your newsletter, which will be tailored to meet their needs.
It will also determine the effect of your marketing efforts since your goal is to get your ad or announcement in front of them.
Be as specific as possible.
For example, if you want your newsletter to be targeted to people who are interested in healthy living so you can promote your A-Plus Vitamin products, your newsletter should obviously focus on health, fitness, eating right, or some other related topic.
If your A-Plus Vitamin products also offer a business opportunity, you will also want to target people interested in such business opportunities.
In this case, your ideal target market would be health-conscious people who are also open to alternative business ventures.
Here are some questions you can ponder when it comes to the characteristics of your target audience: What interests do they share? How old are they? Where do they live? How much do they earn? Spend? On what items?
Targeting your audience will also allow you to confidently command the higher advertising rates from advertisers looking to target the market that your subscribers comprise.
- What are your goals in creating your Newsletter?
This is perhaps the most important question to answer.
Without specific goals, your newsletter will flounder and drift. With a firm objective and a concrete game plan, you can soon be playing in the big leagues.
Is your newsletter a vehicle to advertise your own business to readers? Is it a way to bring them to your web site, or request your brochure, or contact you by phone, fax, or email? Is it to announce new additions to your site, or special offers and discounts, or a new product launch? Do you want to inform, instruct and educate (articles, news updates), entertain (jokes, riddles), inspire (quotes, advice) or sell (products, services)?
Your newsletter may do any or all of these. Or even NONE! Yes, even then, your newsletter still has a purpose – that purpose is BRANDING. By regularly putting your company’s name (or YOUR name) in front of your customer, you achieve credibility, which may translate into future business.
Whatever your goals are for your newsletter, define them before you begin. As you progress, you’ll be able to efficiently track your progress towards these goals.
The bottom line in publishing a newsletter is the same bottom line that Network Marketing is based on–building relationships.
You build relationships with people in a variety of ways, but having an audience who is interested in what you have to say, eliciting feedback from your readers, and keeping their interests at heart will allow you to build relationships en masse. There are no other marketing techniques, this affordable, that will do this for you in such a large capacity.
In your next lesson you will learn how to publish your newsletter.
Until then, work on laying the groundwork covered here. Get prepared to move onto the next step!
Empowerism 30: Writing for the Internet 4 of 8
Writing For The Internet – Part 4
What’s the primary difference between Newspapers and Magazines? Have you ever thought about it? Here’s the difference. Newspapers contain News. Magazines contain Entertainment. There is a very subtle difference, one which will become significant as we get into this lesson. Study it very carefully. It will save you a bunch of extra work. As a NetMarketer you will need to create your own in-house publication which you will offer on a somewhat regular basis to your mailing list. Creating such an in-house publication is the only method for keeping in touch with your contacts. Even more importantly, it will be their only method for keeping in touch with you. How will you build relationships without such a publication? You won’t! After all, out of sight – out of mind. Now, you’ve probably read all the “do’s and dont’s” of creating such in-house publications, and if not, they will be covered in subsequent lessons. But what this lesson is really about is the inherent fear and trepidation which most marketers confront when contemplating the creation of this in-house publication. Here’s what happens. You know you need to have your own publication. You know you do because your competitors have such publications. You’re probably on their list, right? And so you want to have one as well. Just GOT to have one! But their publication is so dang good. It’s awesome! How in the world are you going to compete with such a production. Heck, it’s like 10-15 pages, it has articles, ads, contests, humor, even resources to all kinds of great stuff. Their publication is just like, well, it’s just like . . . a MAGAZINE.
Yes, it’s like an electronic magazine. Gee, so that’s why they call it an E-Zine. Who knew? And so you set out to build yourself an E-Zine. You start looking for articles, you spend hours and hours gathering resources, you finally dream up a contest, you round up some jokes and finally, after about two months of non-stop scampering all over the net, whew!, you’re ready to launch your masterpiece. Then it suddenly occurs to you. Like a bolt of lightening. You realize something you hadn’t thought of before. YOU HAVE TO DO THIS EVERY WEEK!!! You now have a Deadline For Publication. How do you cram 2 months into one week? Well, to put it bluntly . . . it ain’t gonna happen. So you give up, pack-in the project, and wear the dunce cap once again. Your self esteem is wrecked, your list of 20 people slowly slips away and you’re back to reading ads from your competitor. Does this sound familiar? You bet!
But wait a minute. Hold the phone. There’s another option to consider. There’s NEWSPAPERS. Hey, that’s an idea. You can put out a newspaper, a small one. It’s called a Newsletter. It won’t take nearly as long to produce, it will be much easier to control, and you can just talk to your list like they’re old friends. Very low key, personal, warm, and friendly. That’s the ticket!
It might interest you to know that nearly all the big, fancy E-Zines that impress us so much, well, most of them started as itty bitty personal newsletters. A guy or gal sending you a letter talking about their lives and their NetMarketing businesses. They were relating some of their commonplace experiences about their enterprises, offering AND asking their list subscribers what they thought of such and such.
And, oh yes, they would weave one of their opportunities into the letter. Then as their list began to grow, as their relationships began to flourish, they started becoming more and more prosperous. These people built these huge home businesses by simply writing letters to their contacts. It wasn’t that hard and it worked. Think about it. You could probably do that, couldn’t you? No need to make such a production about it. Just tell your new friends about your business, what you’re doing that’s working for you. What isn’t. Ask them what’s working for them. What isn’t. It’s fun to do and you can do it! It’s called building relationships. Try it. It will make you money. Remember, these titans of NetMarketing which everyone seems anxious to emulate have been out there for years. They are very successful and have become prosperous enough to acquire some staffing. You might not know that, but it’s true. Very few of them publish these 10-15 page E-Zines all by themselves. So do what they did in the beginning. Publish a small, but professional, Newsletter.
Final Notes – It seems to be the case that everyone thinks that newsletters and e-zines are interchangeable animals.
They are not. E-Zines are specialized publications usually associated with the Zines, which were published back in the early 1950s, offered as little magazines usually of an alternative nature, i.e. counter culture.
On the other hand, small private newsletters have been available for centuries, even before movable type. The majority of them are published by people just like you.
These are small business owners who want to build a community of entrepreneurs, be able relate to them, and in doing so, help them build their businesses as well.
Here is your Empowerism Power Push for today:
You can often change your future simply by changing your focus. Success comes from changing not what you think, but what you are thinking about. Think about starting your own small newsletter which you can offer to your list. Don’t think about E-Zines, you’ll just get confused. In your next lesson we’ll teach you how to plan, produce, and deliver your newsletter. Think about that! It’ll be fun, you’ll see.

Relationship Marketing Part 4
“Wishing to be friends is quick work, but friendship is a slow-ripening fruit.” – - Aristotle
Throughout these Empowerism training e-mails we have stressed the value of using database marketing to grow your home business. Developing and maintaining a list of contacts will always be a vital element to successful marketing. But don’t think for a minute that amassing the largest list on the internet will be the panacea to cure all your marketing weaknesses. It won’t be. Volume can hide lots of mistakes in the brick and mortar business model, but not in cyberspace. There’s just not enough time for that to happen. Therefore, be cognizant of volume but not ruled by it. Quite often, a list of 1,000 responsive contacts trumps a list of a 10,000 who never open your mail. They know you, and they s till might stay on your list, but they just delete you. Too bad, so sad, but that’s the reality of NetMarketing. So what makes the public open your mail? Lots of trainers teach that it’s the subject line that garners all the attention. That might be true when it comes to spam, though it’s doubtful. After all, most Internet users are more than a little weary of subject lines full of hype, and even more than a little leery of such tripe. So that leaves the “sender line” as your most useful implement to wage the battle of getting your mail read by your public.
“When all things are equal, the difference is you.”
If you can get your mail read (or at least get them to create a folder for you in their email client where they will save all of your emails and hopefully read them later), then you’re on the right track and you’ve achieved the first step of the sales process. You’ve created a positive emotional response. Now you can deliver your words to a responsive audience who does not treat your email as a rude interruption in their otherwise pleasant day. Note – This lesson was inserted into this series in an effort to explain the reason for building relationships with your database (prospects). The receipt of unwanted e-mail can never be controlled and is getting worse every day. People do look to the subject line first (our eyes track left to right in most cultures), but as they scan, most people take in the sender line as well. If you’re building win-win relationships, then your name will leap out like a valued friend. That’s what you want. That’s what they want. No one needs unwanted e-mail. We all get enough already, right? That’s just logic; another difference between needs and wants.
Empowerism 24: Relationship Marketing 3 of 5
“When all things are equal, the difference is me.”
Relationship Marketing
Part 3
“When all things are equal, the difference is me.” During the past two lessons we have talked about the “needs” of human beings. Starting from the most basic, to the higher needs, we have suggested that two different value systems are used. Basic needs are fulfilled through logic, while the higher needs tend to be fulfilled through emotional influences. When a simple list of purchases is studied, a strange thing usually occurs. Here’s what happens. The less basic the need, the greater the role of emotion. Why is that? Is there a valid reason for such purchasing behavior? Can this odd behavior be explained in one word? Is there a magic word which will convert a shopper into a buyer?
There is such a word. The word is “want.” Nearly all people buy what they want, not what they need. Always remember this and your business will prosper. People buy what they want, not what they need. Check the list you made in your last Power Push and it might surprise you. So why does a person make a buying decision influenced more by emotion, than logic? Can you think of the reason? The answer is “choice.” The factor of choice sets up the process of decision, and choosing door number one over door number two is decided by wanting one door or the other. Not much logic is involved. After all, that’s already been established by the basic need to choose.
Choice opens the door for consumers to make a selection based on a myriad of options. Most important from your standpoint, as the marketer, is the factor of your becoming part of the selection process. If you can wiggle your way into the process then you will stand a much better chance of being selected by the consumer. The best way to accomplish this is to have already established a relationship with the potential buyer. If you’ve put you’re time and effort into developing a solid, and responsive, database of contacts then your odds of providing fulfillment to the consumer are greatly enhanced. Why? The reason is simple. Familiarity and trust are two of the most powerful emotions when it comes to the buying selection. People usually buy from people they know. They do so because a relationship of trust has been developed. In the corporate world it’s called branding, but for the home business entrepreneur think of it as:
“When all things are equal, the difference is me.”
Next stop – How to cultivate database relationships that really deliver results. It’s not so much what you say . . . it’s how you say it that matters most.
Empowerism 32: Writing for the Internet 6 of 8
Writing For The Internet – Part 6
In your last training lesson we discussed the concept, scope, and planning of your newsletter. We detailed the subject (topic) of your newsletter, your target audience, and the goals (reasons) for your letter. Before we move on to the “look and feel” of your letter let’s examine how you will deliver it – your method for fulfillment. How you deliver your newsletter will be determined mostly by the size of your subscriber database. Of course, it will be delivered by e-mail but there are many options to consider. When you’re just starting out, you basically have these choices on how to send out your newsletter:
(1) Using your own ISP and email client (Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger, Aureate Group-Mail, etc.)
(2) Using what’s called a List Server
(3) Hiring a professional List Host
We would not recommend the first option unless you are absolutely sure of the maximum number of emails your ISP permits you to send out at one time. ISPs commonly put a cap on “bulk emailing” as a safeguard against their mail servers being used to send out Spam. If you can afford the fees, number three is the way to go. Fees are usually based on the number of messages (for example $1 per 1,000 and a setup fee) and can get quite expensive depending upon the number of subscribers you have and how often you publish your newsletter. Overall, if you’re a beginner on a limited budget, the free list server is your best choice. If you start out using a List Server, you won’t have to go through any hassles in the transitio n from your email client to the list server and you won’t have to start “in the hole” by spending money on a fee-based list host.
What is a List Server?
Simply put, a list server provides the completely customizable service of maintaining your list and mailing your newsletter for you. The mailing is done from the company’s mail servers, so you don’t run the risk of losing your ISP service for sending out too many emails. Whether you have two or 2,000 subscribers, all you have to do is send your email to your list address and the list server promptly distributes it to all of your subscribers. Two drawbacks of using a list server are that they are not always 100% reliable and every email you send out through the service will have a one-line advertisement at the top or bottom of the email. Most list servers have an “upgrade” plan whereby you can pay an annual fee to have the ad removed, which you will want to do when it’s affordable.
Here is a list of features the list servers offer:
Unlimited mailings
Unlimited subscribers
Automatic subscribe and unsubscribe features Securely accessed by password Customized welcome email for new subscribers
There are plenty of reliable and competent list servers to choose from. Three of the most popular services are:
Or you can just access your favorite search engine and type in these keywords: “Free List Servers”.
To determine which list servers work best for you simply join several of them and add yourself as a subscriber. That way you can get comfortable with the interfacing, you can test the speed and reliability, and you can decide if the one chosen is right for you and your subscribers.
Finally, here’s a note of caution AND a note of encouragement.
Read and study all the instructions provided by your list server. Pay attention to every detail so your newsletter delivery will have a professional outcome. That’s what you want.
If, however, you make a few mistakes in mailing don’t let it deter you from pushing on forward. Everybody makes mistakes, even the pros who have been mailing for a long time. The important thing is to persevere . . . as always.
Or as George Bernard Shaw once said, “A life spent in making mistakes is not only more honorable but more useful than a life spent in doing nothing.”
Empowerism 34: Writing for the Internet 8 of 8
Note: this is the final installment of the Empowerism Course. I hope you’ve found it useful. Your feedback is welcome. Please make comments on the blog about what you’ve learned from the course. I have several other educational seminars that will be posted over time covering a variety of topics.
Writing For The Internet – Part 8
In your last lesson we sent you a demonstration newsletter which was written by the pros from our training staff. The purpose was to show you that writing a newsletter is not as difficult as you might think. It just takes a commitment on your part to do so. Go to your Empowerism folder and print out Lesson 33. We will review the mock newsletter together. (In case you didn’t save it . . . shame on you . . . there is a copy of it in the Training Center).
Let’s begin with some basics about format:
* Header
Your header should be compact and precise. Similar to the masthead of a newspaper, your header documents publishing information about the letter. Issue Number, Date, Your Name, Your Address, Subscription and Removal Instructions. As we did, you can also tag a small logo in the header for impact.
“- – Net Traffic News – - Helping you get more traffic – -”
* Body
This area is the only portion of the newsletter that will be different in each issue. This is the “content” space. We suggest that you maintain consistency here. Start with the editor’s (you) comments, then toss in your top sponsor advertisement. Next is an article or tip, followed by a business recommendation.
Then a few closing remarks and a P.S.
* Footer
Your footer is further information concerning your newsletter.
* Segment Dividers
These are keyboard graphics which you can use to divide your newsletter. Be creative, but not busy. Yet always stay consistent.

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Just play around. Better yet, find some you like from someone else’s letter. There’s no copyright on dividers.
The format of your newsletter is important but its primary benefit is its consistency. Your readers (customers) will get used to your presentation. That’s a good thing. That’s what you want. All you have to do is copy and paste a template, then delete and rewrite the body with each issue. It’s easy!
What’s a template? Well, just use the newsletter in Lesson 33, change all the info in the “header and footer” to reflect your details, then write a new “body” each time you publish.
Now, let’s talk about “the body” for just awhile. Let’s talk about “content”, okay?
First of all, ask yourself the following question?
“Why am I writing this newsletter?” Go ahead, ask yourself.
If you said “To Make More Money On The Internet,” then you probably won’t make more money on the Internet.
But if you said, “To Help More People,” then you will make more money on the Internet.
Do the two preceding sentences make sense to you? If they do, you will become successful in NetMarketing. If they don’t . . . you won’t.
As we’ve instructed to you over and over, in 32 lessons, NetMarketing is about building and maintaining relationships.
The Secret To Success Is So Easy. Just Be You.
All it takes is to be yourself, place your personality into the path of traffic, and then simply recommend products and services that you believe in. Duh!
Sales is nothing more than establishing a viable relationship with a customer. How do you do that? You relate to them and they relate to you. Just like our mock newsletter.
Key Phrases and Sentences In Mock Newsletter:
“Thanks for sending me some tips about fishing.”
“Try them for an easy meal.”
“See how it works?”
“Hurry! Become that day trader you’ve always dreamed about, but in this case you might actually make some money.”
“I hope you are prospering and if you need some help getting traffic just let me know.”
“For an uplifting look at writing, mentoring, and tenacity rent ‘Finding Forrester’.”
These are the key phrases that endear and inspire action within the vendor-customer orbit. Interactive within the body of this issue of the mock newsletter. These phrases build a solid relationship that is win-win. That’s what people want.

Writing For The Internet – Part 7
Here is your Empowerism push for today. We’re putting this right up front to avoid any confusion about the rest of the post!
What you see below is a demonstration newsletter that we cooked up in about two hours. It’s totally fake. Study this newsletter carefully. Look for REASONS why the letter is constructed as it is. In your next lesson we’ll study the letter and show you why it’s not that difficult to put out an effective newsletter. But remember, you have to WANT to do it. And you have to make the effort. It’s business. Your business!!!

Hi Everybody,
Before I get to some news and helpful tips, I want to thank those of you who wished me well regarding my vacation.
I’m back and I had a great time! Thanks for sending me some tips about fishing. They came in handy. I actually caught a fish! But you guessed it . . . it got away.
Oh, before I forget, here’s something you’ll really enjoy.
Have you ever heard of “hamdogs”? I hadn’t either but someone in our group turned us all on them. Wow! Good eating, for sure. And so simple to make. Here’s how.
Using lean ground beef, roll into a wiener sized patty.
Season, cook, and serve on a hot dog bun. Add condiments of choice. Great for outdoor BBQs. Yum, yum!
You know something? I’m getting hungry just thinking about them. Try them for a real easy meal. Really. Talk about cooking outside the box!

How does $29,541 EVERY MONTH sound? Impossible?

As you probably know it’s not nice to fool Mother Search Engine. But everybody tries to do it, right? It’s all in good fun.
Here’s something that’s all in good fun. Changing Your Page Title. Here’s how it works. Let’s say your site is about traffic generation. Every couple of weeks change the title of your front page to “Traffic Tips”, then two weeks later change it to “Traffic Generation”, then “Getting Traffic”. See how it works?
This is good exercise for the search engine scanning robots, too! It keeps them in top shape, real buff.

Who would have thunk it? Did you know that you can now trade traffic credits just like stock on the Stock Market? Yep, it’s true. And guess what? You might find that your luck is much better at trading traffic credits than it is at trading stocks. Indubitable!
It’s called Global Traffic Trader and it’s the Internet’s first and only real-time traffic trading network. Global Traffic Trader’s unique system actually allows members to earn unlimited traffic credits for FREE, and then turn around and sell them to other members on a very exciting fast-paced trading board.
As a member you will have full control of what to do with the traffic credits you earn; you can either use them to direct traffic to your own website or else you can post them for sale at whatever price you like. Not only can you sell the traffic credits that you personally earn, but you will also be able to sell the credits that you earn from your downline’s activity.
Hurry! Become that day trader you’ve always dreamed about but in this case you might actually make some money. Go here:

P.S. Several nights ago I rented a video. Like many of us beginning marketers, learning to communicate via the text medium is fun, yet daunting at times. For an uplifting look at writing, mentoring, and tenacity rent “Finding Forrester”.
It’s kind of slow at first, stick with this movie for an inspirational message you’ll never forget.
